Apple's iPad may be a blockbuster hit, but its success won't stop Android-based slates from leading the market within three years, according to a new IDC study.
While Apple dominates the tablet market today, the iPad's share of theworldwide market is declining as lower-priced competitors like theAmazon Kindle Fire arrive.

Asus hopes its close partnership with Google will lead it to be the first company to offer devices running Android Jelly Bean - version 5.0.
Asus prides itself on its Android upgrade efficiency, as it was the first to provide tablets running Honeycomb and the first to push the Ice Cream Sandwich update to its tablets.

The Google tablet rumor will not die. Supposedly, ASUS is working with Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) on a Nexus tablet, possibly branded Google Play. The 7-inch Android ICS slate will retail for just $199, we're told. InIT Blogwatch, bloggers get ready for a fight with Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN).

If ever there was a week to make plain the writing on the proverbial wall of the personal computing world, this week has been it.
That writing, it's becoming increasingly clear, spells out the word "convergence."
First, on Tuesday, there was the news that Canonical is bringing its popular Ubuntu Linux distribution to Android phones, delivering a full desktop experience when the smartphone is docked with a monitor and keyboard.
